Adoption Process

So You Want To Adopt Your New Best Friend

Mid Cities Animal Rescue will consider adoptive families in the and surrounding areas only. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the dog or cat's background and your family's needs. Every dog or cat is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right dog or cat with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.

The shortcode is missing a valid Donation Form ID attribute.

If you are willing to wait for the right animal to be matched to you, you are an ideal candidate for Mid Cities Animal Rescue. As our success rate proves, these precious dogs and cats are well worth the wait.

Apply →

We appreciate you wanting to bring a dog or cat into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.

Review →

We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.

Home Visit →

Once your application review is complete, a Mid Cities Animal Rescue volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit to meet in person and discuss all-things pet. During the home visit, we look for potential hazards for the dog or cat that the adopter may not have considered. All household members must be present during the home visit. This includes all pets.

Finding Your Pet →

Once approved to adopt, the search for your dog or cat begins. Volunteers will begin to evaluate pets currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family. We would also be open to discussing dogs and cats in our care that you are specifically interested in.

  • We will not discuss adoption details regarding any particular dog or cat if you have not yet applied to adopt.
  • Mid Cities Animal Rescue is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. We will make every effort to schedule your home visit in a timely manner. Please be patient with us…the dogs and cats need our time too.
  • All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots prior to adoption
  • Adoption fees range from $50 to $650, based on the age and health of each individual animal.
